Dear Sir,
I have recently learned about the scheduling of "Macedonian Night"
on Wednesday, March 23, 6pm by your University. While certainly you have
every right to have any speakers you want, the inclusion of a single party
to any discussion is irresponsible. By giving free exposure to an agressor
and not inviting the Greek side to express their opinnion, at a very
sensitive issue, you are making propaganda.
I would like just to remind you that we have not recognized Skopja,
and that several countries have begun withdrawing their recognition
after closer examination of the issues involved (e.g. Australia). On the other
hand, if you are making propaganda, nothing I will tell you will persuade you
to reconsider. To be objective everyone must hear both sides of the story.
If you can't do that, then it is only fair that you cancel the activity.
Otherwise a very dynamic section of the Academic community (Greek-Americans
professors and students), will be dissapointed and the name of Columbia
University will be remembered as a biased institution dedicated not to free
thinking but to propaganda. Such an Institution is not conducive to learning,
and therefore, to be avoided.
Thank you
