The indepedence day of Cyprus is celebrated on October the 1st. Last October the Cypriot students of MIT chose to honor the day by posting some information material on a bulletin board in the Infinite Corridor (the main corridor of the MIT campus). The posters were about the Turkish invasion of 1974, and the current occupation of 37% of the island by Turkish troops. The posters were calling for a peaceful unification of the island, the return of the 200,000 refugees to their homes and the investigation of the cases of 1619 Cypriots, that are missing since the invasion. The posters were there from September 30, 1994 until October 6, 1994. The Turkish students reacted with two letters in 'the tech' issue of October 14, 1994. The following list includes all the articles published in 'the Tech' about the posters in particular as well as the Cyprus
Problem in general.
