OLH is available in both terminal-oriented and X based systems. The default is to use the X based version where there is an X display available. The '-tty' and '-motif' may be used to explicitly select an interface. When you are using the X-based interface, the '-internal' and '-external' flags are used to select whether to use the built-in viewer when possible, and when to call external viewers. External viewers have the advantage thay they will be able to display the help information in its original format, but have the disadvantage of taking up much more memory and being slow to start up. The default is to use external viewers if they are available and the processor is sufficiently powerful to run them without trouble. On the VSII and VS2000 platforms, the default is to use the internal platforms. On on all other workstations, the default is to use the external viewers. For more help in using the X-based interface, look under the "Help" menu. When using the terminal-oriented interface, you can type the following commands: .TP 5 ? Display help. .TP 5 \fInumber\fR Select the topic with the specified \fInumber\fR from the current menu. This will cause another menu or a document to be displayed. .TP 5 + Scroll the list of topics up. .TP 5 - Scroll the list of topics down. .TP 5 u Go "up" to the previous menu. .TP 5 c Ask a Consultant for assistance. This invokes the \fIolc\fR(1) (On-Line Consulting) service. .TP 5 s Send a suggestion for improving the On-Line Help service. .TP 5 q Quit from the On-Line Help service. .TP 5 k Only when the "Look for documentation by keyword" menu is active, this command allows you to type the keyword directly, rather than having to choose it by number. To abort the keyword-entry mode, press Ctrl-G. .PP .SH "SEE ALSO" \fIman\fR(1) \fIolc\fR(1) .SH "FILES" \fI/mit/logos/olh\fR .br Copyright 1989, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
