Music of Latin America

We are co-sponsoring a concert of Latin American chamber music by the Ptolemy Players, an independent music group at MIT. Among the items on the program are works by:

  • Becerra-Schmidt (Chile);
  • Ardevol (Spain/Cuba);
  • Piazzolla (Argentina);
  • Fernandez (Brazil);
  • Ginastera (Argentina);
  • Villa-Lobos (Brazil);
  • Capillas (Mexico);
  • Schifrin (Argentina);
  • Sumaya (Mexico).

The Ptolemy Players are an ensemble of MIT students, alumni, and affiliates. In February, 2001, they performed an evening of Eastern European music; in October they played works by composers whose names begin with the letter "B."
