Writing for the Web
NELINET Workshop
Instructor:
Nicole Hennig, Web Manager,
MIT Libraries
Course
desciption:
On the
Web people don't read - they scan, skim and select. Anyone who writes
copy for the web could benefit from web-specific writing guidelines.
This class
focuses on how to write a page once the user gets to the page, not on
overall navigation or site design.
We will:
- look
at examples of each design tip
- try
some hands-on exercises (using a word processor instead of HTML)
Audience:
Anyone who writes materials for the web (whether or not you edit
the HTML yourself)
Most of the content of this site is drawn from a workshop
given by Janice (Ginny) Redish, Ph.D. at User Interface 2000 in November
1999.
