Budget and the Commitment Item Hierarchy in FM
Budget is placed not only within a particular Fund and/or Fund Centre, but is explicitly associated with a “Commitment Item” (CI).
The combination of a specific Fund, Fund Centre and CI is sometimes termed an “FM Triple” or simply a “Triple”.
The lowest level of CI is linked to one or more G/L accounts (and hence to CO cost elements).
CI’s are themselves aggregated in several summarisation levels in a hierarchical fashion.
