The Training Solution |
The Training Solution, currently in development will be used to complement the MIDS Training Strategy and consists of various tools aimed at providing different levels of training and support for SAP users. It is our aim to provide our SAP users with a choice in the level and method of training and support that they receive. These choices will be managed jointly by the user and a Training Officer. We aim to provide on line and classroom based training, which users can choose in any combination to make up a training solution. The online Training Solution will be used to manage and schedule these choices. The various tools which make up this package consist of: |

Online Help |
| The Online Help function is currently in development and will allow users acces via SAP or the Internet to context sensitive support. This will be tailored to the needs of the users at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. |

The Training Tool |
| The Training Tool will comprise of various different components one of which is the New User Guide. The New User Guide will list all of the activities that a new user must complete to gain access to the SAP system, some of these procedures will be completed online and some manually. However the tool will allow new users to map their progress and will provide an easy means of escalating any problems with the procedures. |

The Discussion Forum |
The Discussion Forum comprises of the SAP Chat Rooms and the SAP Discussion Room. The SAP Chat Rooms operate in real time, and will enable users to discuss any issues or problems, or exchange any useful ideas or Top Tips with other users who currently in the chat room. A member of the Training Team will access the Chat Rooms at predefined times of the day. The Discussion Forum allows users to post questions on to the web, they can also suggest solutions to questions already posted. A member of the Training Team will access the Forum at least once a day with the aim of providing a solution or escalting the problem. Both the Chat Room and the Discussion forum will be used by the Training Team to provide Top Tips and Frequently Asked Questions. |

The Business Process Flows |
| The University Business Process Flows will be posted on the Training Solution and will allow all staff to view the relevant processes. |

The Training Scheduler |
The Training Scheduler will have three different levels of access. The 'user' access will enable them to view and book future training and drop in sessions, and to view their full training history. The 'Administrators' access will enable them to schedule courses, confirm bookings and generally administer the scheduling tool. The 'Trainers' access will allow all of the above but will also include a tool for confirming attendance and completion of a course, and also to produce certificates. |
