Alumni/ae Programs at MIT
Leading Jewish Minds @ MIT faculty luncheons were initiated in the 2010-2011 academic year for MIT faculty, staff, and local alumni. The highly successful program included talks by:
- John M. Deutch '61, PhD '66, Institute Professor: "Correcting the Shortcomings of US Energy Policy, 1973-2010"
- Mildred S. Dresselhaus, Institute Professor of Physics and Electrical Engineering and one of the first women faculty at MIT: "My Adventures with Nanostructures"
- Jonathan Gruber '87, Professor of Economics and Director of Health Care Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research: "Health Reform in the U.S.: Where are We and Where Do We Go from Here?"
- Samuel Jay Keyser, MIT linguistics and philosophy professor emeritus, and Nancy Kelly, former Administrative Officer in the Office of the President at MIT: "Mulling the Balkans"
- Robert Weinberg '64, PhD '69: “What Our DNA Tells Us About Our Origins: Origins of Humanity and Origins of Ashkenazi Jews”
Year two begins with Fall 2010 luncheon presentations by:

- David Mindell PhD '96, Professor of History of Manufacturing & Technology, ESD & Director of Science, Technology and Society

Hillel also hosts an annual Reception for Jewish Alumni/ae every June in conjunction with Commencement. It is generally held on Friday afternoon, immediately after Graduation Exercises. Many alumni/ae also attend Shabbat dinner that evening. If you will be attending the Tech Week reunion activities, please contact Hillel at: hillel@mit.edu.
Alumni/ae Connections in the United States
The MIT Hillel Board of Directors has instituted an outreach effort to Jewish alumni/ae living in other parts of North America.
Any alumni/ae interested in hosting a reception in their city should contact Hillel Executive Director Rabbi Michelle Fisher.
Alumni Connections in Israel
More than three hundred MIT alumni/ae live in Israel. The MIT Club of Israel serves as an MIT liaison to this population. Galya Racine MBA '02, SM '02 (galya@alum.mit.edu) is the club's president. A summer reunion of MIT alumni/ae is held each year under the coordination of Heidi Brun '85 (hmb@alum.mit.edu) and David Goldfarb '84 (deg@alum.mit.edu)

Annual Campaign
MIT Hillel depends on the generosity of Jewish alumni/ae for the majority of its annual funding. Alumni/ae have the opportunity to donate directly to MIT Hillel or through a donation, designated to MIT Hillel, to the MIT Alumni/ae Fund. Donate now to MIT Hillel, online -- all donations will receive Alumni and Class giving credit.
Opportunities also exist for alumni/ae to sponsor specific Hillel programs. And, it is possible for aluumni/ae to remember Hillel in their wills. For information contact Hillel's Executive Director, Rabbi Michelle Fisher.
