Hillel DVD Rental Policy

Hillel has purchased and is making available a growing collection of DVD's pertaining to Jewish themes for the benefit of the MIT community. Below you will find the rules and regulations pertaining to checking out and returning DVD's :

Checking Out a DVD

In order to ensure the security of the DVD's, Hillel will be using a co-signator policy for renting purposes. In order to sign out a DVD, you must contact one of the following:

  • A member of the Hillel staff, usually found in the W20 basement during working hours (for 2006: Nataly Schwartz, Rachel Shiffrin, Sarah Tasman, Miriam Rosenblum, Rabbi Benjamin Lanckton)
  • The following members of the 2006 Hillel Student Board: Sophie Rapoport, David Stiebel, Dave Held, Josh Sklarsky
  • The following minyan gabbaim: Ben Cooper, Daniel Leeds
  • Hillel DVD Chair: Chaim Kutnicki

If none of these individuals are in the W20 building, you can send an e-mail to hillel-dvds@mit.edu and someone will arrange to meet you within 24 hours to check out the movie.

Please fill out the sign out sheet located next to the Hillel computer and have the co-signator sign next to your name. The co-signator will then use the key in their possession to open the lockbox and give you the movie.

Returning a DVD

All movies are to be checked out for no more than one week. When finished viewing a movie, please tell one of the individuals above or e-mail hillel-dvds@mit.edu and leave it either on one of the Hillel staff's desks in the basement of W20 or next to the Hillel Center computer.

Current selections include:

  1. Alice in Wonderland (Hebrew, English subtitles)
  2. Annie Hall
  3. Avalon
  4. Exodus
  5. Fiddler on the Roof
  6. The Garden of the Finzi-Continis
  7. Into the Arms of Strangers
  8. Sallah Shabati (Hebrew, English subtitles)
  9. Schindler's List
  10. The Ten Commandments
  11. The Troupe (Hebrew, English subtitles)
  12. Turn Left at the End of the World (Hebrew, English subtitles)

If you do not find the film you are looking for, please feel free to send an e-mail to hillel-dvds at mit dot edu to make a suggestion that it be purchased in the future. In the meantime, it is recommended that you look at the MIT Libraries' (http://libraries.mit.edu) and Cambridge Public Library's (http://library.minlib.net/search/) holdings which often have a good selection of films in this genre.
