Addir Fellows Interfaith Dialogue Program
The Addir Fellows Program brings together thirty students of different faiths
to engage and understand each other in a stimulating environment. Addir is
a word in Ancient Sumerian, which means 'bridge'. In the Addir Fellows Program
we aspire to build bridges of dialogue and understanding. MIT Hillel administers
and sponsors the program. Cosponsor is the Office of Dean for Student Life
in cooperation with the Board of Chaplains.
Breakfast Ko-op
Provides daily breakfast following the Orthodox morning services.
Birthright Israel
Annual trip to Israel for students who have never been to Israel on an organized trip.
MIT Conservative Minyan (MCM)
Offers services with traditional liturgy and egalitarian setting on Shabbat,
Chagim [festivals], and High Holydays for Jewish students in the MIT community.
Also specifically services the Conservative Jewish community with study events,
speakers, and social events. Affiliated with "Koach," the campus division
of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
FYSH - First Year Students at Hillel First year students at Hillel gather regularly to plan and hold events.
Generations
A community service program which links Jewish senior citizens with Hillel members at a variety of programs on the MIT campus and in greater Boston.
Grad Hillel
Plans and fosters a variety of events for graduate students.
Greek Jewish Council
Organizing social events for Jews involved in sororities and fraternities.
Hebrew Table
Practice conversational Hebrew.
Hibur: An MIT - Technion Link
Creating connections between students, faculty, and others at MIT and the Technion Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. Programs include an annual spring trip to Technion, hosting Technion students each fall, joint video lectures, and evolving joint projects.
Holocaust Memorial Committee
Organizes annual campus observances of Holocaust Memorial Day and Kristallnacht.
Israel Committee
Organizes events which highlight Israeli speakers, movies, and Independence Day observances.
Jewish Women's Group
Women from different parts of the MIT Jewish community gather monthly for learning and celebration.
MIT Klez
Learns and performs Klezmer music for performance at MIT and beyond.
Kosher Dining Advisory Committee
An advisory group which works with MIT Community Dining to promote Kosher Dining at MIT.
Shabbat Lunches @ MIT (SLAMIT)
A Shabbat and holiday lunch cooperative providing tasty, convivial meals.
Kosher Supervision (mashgiach)
Supervises the kashrut of the two Hillel kitchens, provides kosher advice to students, committees and groups, and works with the Hillel staff and the Va'ad Harabonim of Massachusetts.
Orthodox Minyan
Serving Jews from a variety of traditional backgrounds for prayer and study on Shabbat, holidays, and weekdays.
Reform Student Chavurah
Reform Jews gather for Shabbat worship, singing, and more.
Regional Hillel Board Representatives
Liaisons from MIT Hillel to the Regional Hillel Student Board.
Social Committee
Plans and implements a variety of social programs; meetings coincide with large event planning.
Speaker Series
Hillel's Speaker Series invites Jewish academics and interesting personalities to present and lead discussions on the pressing political, social and religious issues of the day. Speakers will challenge participants to not only listen but to wrestle with the ethical and moral consequences of the critical issues of our society.
Student Executive Board
The six member Student Executive Board provides leadership and direction for the entire Hillel student program. The board meets weekly to discuss, clarify, and implement Hillel's mission.
Tzedek @ MIT
The MIT Tzedek Initiative organizes students to engage in meaningful public service
around social justice issues. A number of project teams are formed each semester
around specific themes and interest groups. |
