David Ralston
Professor Emeritus, of History
David B. Ralston received his Ph.D. from Columbia University. Professor Ralston's specialties are in European history and military history, which is also the focus of two of his publications, Importing the European Army: The Introduction of European Military Techniques and Institutions into the Extra-European World 1600-1914, and The Army of the Republic: The Place of the Military in the Political Evolution of France, 1871-1914. He is also the editor of Soldiers and States: Civil-Military Relations in Modern Europe and a co-editor along with Professors Bruce Mazlish and Arthur Kaledin of Revolution, A Reader. Professor Ralston currently resides in Florida.
