The History Faculty welcomes the new Administrative Officer, Katherine Swan. We also welcome Eric Goldberg, Associate Professor of HIstory at Williams College, who will teach two subjects, 21H.306 The Middle Ages and 21H.308 The Vikings, during Spring semester 2008.
IAP in Ancient Italy was offered again, January 10-18, 2008. Fifteen MIT undergraduates and two members of the MIT History Faculty traveled to Rome and the Bay of Naples for a first-hand experience of Roman and Greek archeology - urban topography, architecture, public and private monuments.
Harriet Ritvo has received the 2007 Graduate Society Award, awarded to alumnae of Harvard and Radcliffe graduate schools for outstanding contributions to their professions. Harriet along with Janet Browne of the Department of History of Science at Harvard will be 2008 Research Directors for the Social Science Research Council's Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship in the Field of Animal Studies.
