Come to Soliloquise (ACTS) is an initiative at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology. Founded by Dramashop,
MIT's co-curricular theatre group, ACTS aims to build trans-Atlantic
bridges.
We
presented two productions in the UK
in June 2006. They were directed by Adam Miller and Kenneth Roraback, who
both graduated in 2006 with dual degrees in physics and theatre. Miller
led a satirical piece, FELUTOPIA, dissecting racial tensions in the United States. His work
was developed through improvisation, in collaboration with
Helen McCreery, Daniel Chonde, and Adam Love. Meanwhile, Roraback directed ELECTRONIC CITY, a play by Falk Richter and translated by Marlene
Norst. Electronic City scrutinises the absorption of technology by society.
We
conceived ACTS as an opportunity for cultural exchange as well as an investment
for the artistic future of Boston-area college drama.
ACTS
was funded in part by
The
Council
for the Arts at MIT
The Undergraduate Association
The Dean for Undergraduate Education
The Associate Provost for the Arts
The
DeFlorez Fund for humor
The
MIT Fund
The
Dean for Student Life
and
Dramashop alumni/ae
We are very grateful to each of
them, and to our other sponsors.
