MIT's graduate residential system consists of 5 residence halls that are a unique mix of dormitory and apartment style housing, 2 family
housing apartment buildings, and live-in positions within the
undergraduate living groups. Several of our buildings have been opened in the last 8 years, and our newest building, Ashdown House, will be environmentally friendly and is applying for LEED Gold certification!
All of our graduate housing is located within ten minutes walking
or biking distance of most classrooms and libraries. These pages
provide information on applying for the various housing options,
as well as answers to frequently asked questions.
Housing assignments are generally made twice a year during our Spring and Fall Housing Allocations (previously known as the Housing Lottery). At other times housing assignments are made to people on our Waiting List as space becomes available.
New and prospective students, please go here.
To speak with an graduate housing coordinator about single or family graduate housing, please visit W59-200, call 617-253-5148, or email graduatehousing@mit.edu.
