Preference Page
If you accept an assignment from the waiting list, it is a commitment and you will be expected to occupy the room regardless of whether you have signed your license. Should you decide to cancel your assignment, you MUST notify the Graduate Housing Office in writing. There will be a $250 cancellation fee if you cancel this assignment after you accept it. If you cancel less than 30 days before your move-in date you will be responsible for rent from your move-in date until the end of the 30 days, or until someone else moves into your assignment, whichever is first. (Cancellations must be made by email to graduatehousing@mit.edu) Please note that if you cancel less than 30 days before your move in date, you will be responsible for the rent, regardless of your reason for canceling. Do not assume your department will inform us that you are not attending MIT.
Rent includes heat, hot water, electricity, on-campus phone service, internet and basic cable as well as all building amenities such as low-cost laundry, gym facilities, front desk services, security patrol and other common spaces. Some dorms have a monthly tax of $5 to cover dorm social activities.
