The Graduate Housing Spotlight Ashdown House
As the second-oldest graduate dormitory in the United States,
Ashdown House is a landmark in the rich historical culture of
Cambridge and Boston. Located in the heart of the MIT campus
and only a short walk from Boston, Ashdown is a popular choice
among graduate students in the know.
This lively building is led by a dynamic community of graduate
students who coordinate some of the most highly attended events
on campus. Go there on a Sunday morning and you’ll find
students sitting down to brunch. Go again on a Thursday night
and chat with residents at Ashdown’s weekly coffee hour.
Here is just a sampling of what Ashdown has to offer:
Facilities:
Ashdown House has
suites of two or three rooms. Double rooms are
shared by two students. Deluxe doubles are actually
two large adjoining singles with a common entrance
or are expansive corner tower rooms with a river
view. Singles in Ashdown vary in size.

Ashdown Community:
Who says that there is no social life at MIT?
Ashdown has one of the most active and diverse graduate communities
on campus. We have activities ranging from small dinners with
MIT faculty, Symphony concerts, to the best parties at MIT.
Essentially, Ashdown is a home away from home.
