Off-Campus Housing While many of our students enjoy the convenience of MIT-affiliated living options, others prefer to live off-campus in independently owned and managed residential buildings. The Off-Campus Housing Service helps students locate alternative housing in the greater Boston area. These pages contain rental listings, bus schedules, furniture resources, legal information and other related services. MIT owns several apartment buildings in the area for rent to graduate students and affiliates. This website catalogs and makes available past rents and descriptions of residences as well as tracks current listings and sublets. It allows students to contact landlords directly instead of incurring large realtor fees. Finally, the information is generated by MIT students, for MIT students, rather than by brokers.
