HOUSING CONFIRMATION/ CANCELLATION PROCESS

ALL students currently living in Undergraduate Housing (even graduating seniors) are required to fill out a confirmation/cancellation form stating that you:

  • Wish to RENEW your on-campus housing for the 2008-2009 academic year, or
  • Wish to CANCEL your on-campus housing for the 2008-2009 Academic Year

(Graduating seniors and students past 8 terms of housing eligibility are required to cancel their housing)

If you are requesting 9th term housing, please submit a Confirmation Form and indicate that you will not be living on campus for the fall semester.  If you are granted 9th term housing we will adjust your confirmation form after decisions have been made.

Do this now by going to the following site:< http://web.mit.edu/housing/undergrad/confirm.html >

Due by April 9, 2008*
*A student for whom no form is received will automatically lose his/ her assignment and will be fined $100.

SENIORS!

Housing eligibility ends after your 8th semester as a registered student. If you will not be graduating, you *must* request an extension to stay for a 9th term if you would like to continue your housing.  Applications will be reviewed and 9th term exceptions will be granted on a case-by-case basis.  If you are not granted 9th term housing, you may not live in the undergraduate residence halls in Fall 2008.

Applications can be found at <http://web.mit.edu/housing/undergrad/9th.html>.

All applications must be accompanied by a letter (email is fine) explaining why you require an additional term, as well as any supporting documentation you may have.  Please plan to have all supporting documents to the Undergraduate Housing Office (E19-429, residence@mit.edu) by April 9, 2008.

APRIL HOUSING SWITCH LOTTERY

Only students currently living in Undergraduate Housing in the Spring 2008 are eligible for the lottery.

If you wish to request a move to a different residence hall next term (Fall, 2008), you may fill out a housing change application at:

<http://web.mit.edu/housing/undergrad/application.html>

Applications must be received by April 9, 2008.
The April Lottery switches students based in the order in which they apply, and as space allows.

**Please remember that if you file a housing change application, and you receive a new assignment, then you must move**

SUMMER HOUSING INFORMATION
