    Continue the legacy!

McCormick Hall has been a special place for undergraduate women to live at MIT for over 40 years. This extraordinary residence exists largely through the determination of one of the greatest American women of the twentieth century, Katharine Dexter McCormick. As Housemasters, we are proud to live among the approximately 250 undergraduate women of McCormick, because the residence hall continues the legacy of one of the great champions of women's rights and social progress.

If you ask residents why they live in McCormick, they are likely to mention that it's close to academic buildings, has great facilities, is clean, and is a calm place to live. McCormick Hall also hosts one of the Residence Based Advising (RBA) programs, which benefits the first year residents by increasing the level of community, academic resources, and social support among the frosh, which then continues and expands in the upper-class years.

A strong house government that holds events, assigns rooms, and runs the judicial system, ensures that every resident has a welcoming home in McCormick. A strong facility team that cleans and maintains the house ensures that every resident has a comfortable and safe home in McCormick. A strong dining staff that serves up delicious dinners in our beautiful and inviting dining hall ensures that every resident finds healthy meals in McCormick. A strong team of graduate resident tutors, who hold study breaks and organize floor activities, ensures that every resident has a supportive home in McCormick.

A few words about us: We love cooking and inviting students over for pizza dinners and other small gatherings. We are both professionals: Charles is Professor of Political Science (you will learn to call it Course XVII) and Head of the Department; Kathy is an environmental scientist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. We have a fourteen-year-old son, Cameron, who can be found playing basketball in front of McCormick or ping-pong in the game room.

We look forward to you joining the MIT community and hope that you'll choose McCormick, if McCormick is right for you.
