    Continue the legacy!

McCormick Hall has been a special place for undergraduate women to live at MIT for nearly 30 years. This extraordinary residence exists largely through the determination of one of the greatest American women of the twentieth century, Katherine Dexter McCormick. As Housemasters, we are proud to live among the undergraduate women of McCormick, because the residence hall continues the legacy of one of the great champions of women's rights and social progress.

If you ask residents why they live in McCormick, they are likely to mention its proximity to academic buildings, great facilities, cleanliness, and tranquil atmosphere. Continuing this year, there is another reason why many choose McCormick: the Residence Based Advising (RBA) program. Now in its third year, the RBA program has helped to increase the level of community, academic resources, and social support among the frosh, which then continues and expands in the upper-class years.

A few words about us: We love cooking and inviting students over for pizza dinners and other small gatherings. We are both professionals: Charles is Professor of Political Science (you will learn to call it Course XVII) and Associate Dean of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (you will learn to call it HASS); Kathy is a hydrogeologist at the U.S. Geological Survey studying groundwater contamination. We have a seven-year-old son, Cameron, who can be found frequently playing baseball on the front lawn.

We look forward to you joining the MIT community and hope that you'll choose McCormick, if McCormick is right for you.
