Support Staff Salary Ranges

The Support Staff salary structure consists of 5 salary ranges (2 through 6). Every support staff job/position has its own discrete job/position code. The second digit in the job/position code designates the grade. The alpha portion designates the job/position family. The third set of digits indicates the sequential order in which that particular job/position was created.

For example, job/position code 04FN06 indicates that this job/position is a grade 4 in the Financial job/position family, and was created 6th in a set of approximately 10 job/positions created in grade 4.

Note that a job/position family is a set of job/positions that has similar types of duties, similar skill sets, or exists under a similar functional grouping. Following is a list of MIT's support staff job/position families:

To determine the annual salary amount, multiply the hourly rate by the number of hours to be worked per week and then multiply by fifty-two weeks. See actual hourly and annual rates for 35-, 37.5- and 40-hour work weeks.
