The MIT Hindu Students Council (HSC)
The MIT Hindu Students Council is a forum that provides opportunities to learn about Hindu heritage through various activities, events and projects. The MIT HSC is open to both graduate and undergraduate students, and to members of the MIT community.
The mission of MIT HSC is to promote understanding of Hindu culture and heritage, foster awareness of issues affecting Hinduism, and provide service to the community. We do this by helping students experience Hinduism through celebrations of Hindu festivals, regular discussions, satsanga sessions, classes and symposia and guest lectures. We are open to people and ideas of all faiths and backgrounds.
Our chaplain Swami Tyagananda is a Hindu monk of the Ramakrishna Order and presently head of the Order's branch in Boston.
