Research:
Dr. Elisseeff's research focuses on hydrogel materials and minimally invasive
technologies, stem cells, and musculoskeletal tissue engineering.
Career Highlights:
Dr. Elisseeff received a BS in chemistry with honors from Carnegie Mellon
College of Science in 1994, and a PhD in biomedical engineering from the
Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, in 1999. After
doctoral research in tissue engineering with Robert Langer, Dr. Elisseeff
received a Pharmacology Research Associate Fellowship from the National
Institute of General Medicine for research in the Molecular Biology section
of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
Dr. Elisseeff has published more than 50 articles and book chapters, and
has six patents issued and pending. She has received awards, including
the Carnegie Mellon Young Alumni Award and Arthritis Investigator Award
from the Arthritis Foundation. In addition, Technology Review magazine
in 2002 named her as a top innovator under 35 years of age, and her research
among the top 10 technologies to change the future.
Dr. Elisseeff is one of the founders of CARTILIX, Inc, whose core technologies
are novel biomaterials and unique implantation strategies.
