-Goizueta Foundation Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Yale University
-Chair, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Yale University

Research:
Dr. Saltzman's research focuses on creating safer and more effective medical and surgical therapies based on tissue engineering and on developing methods for drug delivery.

Career Highlights:
Dr. Saltzman received his BS with distinction from Iowa State University and his PhD in medical engineering and medical physics from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology at MIT. Prior to his appointment at Yale, he served on the faculties of Johns Hopkins and Cornell Universities.

Dr. Saltzman's research group has fashioned biocompatible polymeric materials for the controlled delivery of drugs, proteins, and genes, and they have created polymer implants to promote the regeneration of diseased and traumatized tissues in the nervous system and to enhance the survival of transplanted cells and tissues.

Dr. Saltzman has authored two textbooks, more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, and has received numerous awards, including the Biomedical Engineering Society's Distinguished Lecturer for 2004, the Society's highest award.
