Abstract Guidelines
Abstracts are due Monday, March 13, 2006
Email as an attached word document to hstforum@mit.edu
Page Layout:
- Abstract
must fit on one 8 x 11 page
- Please save your document as "Your Last Name.doc" (for example: smith.doc)
- Margins: left and right 2", top and bottom 1.5"
- Use 10 point Times New Roman font
- Alignment should be center for the title, names and institutions
- Alignment should be right justified for the introductory paragraph and body's text
- Bold your abstract title and name
- Italicize introductory paragraph
Title:
- Type the title in the first line (bold); Use title-type capitalization
- Leave one blank line and then type your name (bold)
- On the next line type the name of your school, your society or program, and your original class year
- For MD students, write the year of graduation of the MD class with which you entered your program
- For PhD students, list the year you were admitted
- Leave one blank line, then type your advisor's name followed by his/her title
- On the next line type the department and institution where you carried out your research

Abstract Body:
- Leave one blank line, and then type the introductory paragraph, which describes your research, its implications, and its potential impact on human health and medicine. This paragraph MUST be written in lay person's terms. It should be italicized.
- Leave one blank line, and then type the body of the abstract's text.
