Ilona Karmel Writing Prizes

The MIT Writing Prizes, awarded annually by the Program in Writing and Humanistic Studies, have been renamed the Ilona Karmel Writing Prizes, in honor of retiring Senior Lecturer Ilona Karmel. For many years, Karmel has made outstanding contributions to creative writing at MIT, particularly her inspirational teaching and relationships with students. Karmel is the author of the novels Stefania, and An Estate of Memory.
