Halston Taylor

Halston Taylor begins his 25th season as the Men's Cross Country and Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Coach. Coach Taylor has been the Head Cross Country Coach since 1982 and the Head Coach of Track and Field since 1990. In 2006 Coach Taylor took over the reigns for the Women's Cross Country program. During his time at MIT, Coach Taylor has coached 87 All-Americans in all three sports, and 8 national champions.
Halston competed for the University of South Carolina in Cross Country and Track, earning letters in both, all four years. During that time, Halston ran bests of 1:51 for 800 meters, and 4:05 for the mile. After receiving his degree in Physical Education, Halston entered the University of Massachusetts in Amherst to study and receive his Masters in Exercise Science.
Continuing to compete, Halston ran a 4:06 indoor mile, and a 2:22.05 in his one and only marathon before his knee problems forced him to retire from running.
After serving twelve years living in residence at MIT as a housemaster, Halston now lives in Arlington, MA with his wife and two children.
