Summer Hutcheson, hired in 2005, is the assistant for both the men and
women’s cross country and track and field programs.
Previously, Hutcheson coached at the University of Tulsa and Minot State University
in Minot, N.D. She assisted MSU's 2003 men's cross country squad to an NAIA
national championship, as well as worked with the sprinters and middle distance
runners on track. She coached one All-American in the 55-meters and a national
semi-finalist in the 800-meters during the 2004 indoor and outdoor seasons.
Prior to arriving at Minot State, Hutcheson coached the cross country and track & field
programs at Faith Academy in Mobile, Ala., where she also taught English and
Public Speaking. She led both the boys and the girls to dual state championships
in 2002-03. At the state championship meet, her girl's 4x100-meter and 4x800-meter
relay teams broke state records, and one of Hutcheson's athletes was named
the meet's MVP.
Originally from Great Falls, Mont., Hutcheson competed for the University of
Mobile between 1996 and 2000 in cross country, indoor and outdoor track. Summer
earned an All-American award in the mile run and several Academic All-American
awards while at U.M. and graduated in 2000 with a degree in English.
