8.5.4.3 Maximum principal curvature

Color Plate A.5 shows a color map of the maximum principal curvature , which has a range of . The global maximum is located at two corners and , and global minimum is located at which is a stationary point inside the domain. There is also a local maximum inside the domain at with and four saddle points inside the domain at , , and with values . There are two local maxima and six local minima along the boundary. The locations are , with and for the local maxima and , , , , , with , 0 , , 0 , , 0 for the local minima. We subdivide the domain along the iso-parametric line and which contain the local maximum and minimum. The reason we choose the iso-parametric line is that the minimum size of each domain in the direction is larger than in the direction.
