The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Leicester University
regularly uses a local taxi company for travel to and from airports
because it is usually cheaper than public transport if there are several
of you travelling together. As a guide, here are the approximate prices
to Hothorpe Hall from

East Midlands - 60 pounds
Birmingham    - 65 pounds
Heathrow      - 115 pounds

 Return taxis can be booked during the IACHEC meeting. You will be
contacted to confirm the taxi booking just before the meeting.  We
will confirm the price you should pay the driver (please bring some UK
pounds with you) and you will be given a contact number for the taxi
firm in case of problems. The firm we use is very reliable. To avoid
undue parking charges they check ahead for your expected arrival time
so if you get through baggage/customs quickly and the driver is not
there, just wait at arrivals. They will be along shortly.
