Notes of the 26th teleconference of the IACHEC Working Group Chairs NuSTAR telephone line 3 November 2016 Participants: K.Forster (KF), C.Grant (CG), M.Guainazzi (MG), V.Kashyap (VK), E.Miller (EM), H.Marshall (HM), L.Natalucci (LN), J.Nevalainen (JN), P.Plucinsky (PP), Y.Terada (YT), M.Tsujimoto (MT) 1. 12th IACHEC meeting logistics -------------------------------- The organization of the meeting continues as planned. The registration page is expected to be published mid-December. The meeting web page is available: http://web.mit.edu/iachec/meetings/index.html. COSPAR has approved a co-sponsorship of 1000 Euros to over the registration fee 2 participants. Interested colleagues will be asked to apply upon registration. 2. 12th IACHEC scientific program --------------------------------- As far as the actions agreed at the previous meetings are concerned: - after a couple of off-line iterations, it has been agreed that the Hitomi talks will be distributed as follows: . Overview on Hitomi: 27/3 AM ("Calibration status of operational and future mission"). . SXS (except "Deadtime" and "Cross-calibration ..."): 27/3, PM (2 hours) . SXI (except "Overview" and "Cross-calibration ...") + HXI/"In-orbit background" + SGD/"In orbit Background": CCD/Background WG . SGD (except "Effective area and cross-calibration with Crab" and "Background") + SXI/"Overview" + SXT + HXI (except "Cross-calibration ..." and "In-orbit background"): 29/3 AM (2 hours) . "Deadtime" + "Time assignment" (0.75 h): Timing WG . "Cross-calibration ..." (1 h): Coordinated observations (a.k.a. "Effective Area") WG (schedule to be decided) - the special session on the cross-calibration status will be split in two parts: . a first part in the afternoon of the 27th will present the concordance project, including a presentation by prof. Meng on the underlying mathematical framework, and the general cross-calibration status based on a prior work coordinated by JN and MG, and discussed with calibration scientists prior to the meeting . a second part in the morning of the 29th will concentrate on how to apply the results of the concordance project (consolidated at the meeting of the "Calibration Uncertainties" WG) for future calibration improvements - given the uncertainties on the launch date, the HXMT Team has not requested any special session on the first in-flight calibration results - calibration scientists of the X-ray polarimetry missions under consideration by ESA and NASA have been contacted. It remains unclear who will be able join given the uncertain schedule - LN proposes Volodymyr Savchenko as a possible speaker on the search of GW (and other transient) event counterparts. He will follow-up 4. Next teleconference ---------------------- The next teleconference will be held in the second half of February, to finalize the science program.
