Have you been trying to get into musicals but afraid you aren't good enough? Want to audition for a fun musical? Forget about all that and come audition for "The Zoo." It's a special workshop designed for MIT students who want to learn how to be in theater. All the leads will be cast from MIT students -- there will be no outside competition. The Gilbert and Sullivan Players have people who will help train you to be in this wonderful production. Please bring two copies of a song for the pianist to play.

Contra Dance for All

Join us for two evenings of Contra Dance, a traditional American form of folk dancing, directed by a caller and accompanied by exciting live music. During IAP we'll make it especially accessible to beginners. Contra Dancing uses easy-to-learn walking steps. You dance with a partner, changing partners each dance, in a line of couples called a 'set' and interacting with your partner and all the other couples. A caller first explains each dance in a 'walk-through' and then continues to prompt you during the dance. No partner is needed. Come by yourself or bring friends! Light refreshments served at the break halfway through.
These dances are part of a continuing series of dances on the Second and Fourth Tuesday of every month, so you can continue to enjoy them once you're hooked.

In 8 classes we will cover the basic elements of mime.
