A picture may be worth a thousand words, but unless you draw something, you do not understand it. The sketch is the most expressive drawing; it is not meant to produce anything but one's own clarification. The sketch is a way of thinking, a way of seeing, and a way of understanding the physical world. It is a very personal and powerful design tool. In this hands-on class, all sketching will be free-hand; NO artistic or technical ability is required. It will explore and develop the skills of the individual through a variety of sketching exercises. Each exercise will examine a specific phenomenon, with a focus on the three-dimensional sketch. Participants will learn-by-doing, as well as through peer and instructor interaction. We will take several trips into Boston to various buildings, museums, and spaces. Students to provide own materials.
