Build Your Own Loudspeakers

Fee: 180.00 for materials for speakers

Save 60-80% on the cost of comparable commercial loudspeakers by making your own. For beginners, the course will cover loudspeaker design and construction. No audio engineering background needed, it includes crossover filter design, selection of speakers, how to build enclosures, etc. Class includes 4 evening lectures about design and theory and 3 morning sessions on how to build them in the shop. Additional time during regular shop hours will be needed to complete your speakers.

Introduction to Woodworking

Learn basic woodworking skills. You will build an upholstered foot stool, starting from planing rough-sawn lumber to putting on a hand-rubbed finish. You'll learn safe operation of woodworking machines in a fully-equipped shop. Space limited; sign up immediately in the Hobby Shop.

Sharp tools are the key to successful woodworking. Learn how to sharpen chisels and planes with skilled woodworker Joe Gifun. Joe will explain and demonstrate and then give everyone a chance to try. Bring your own chisel or plane iron if possible.
