This course allows people of all abilities to use the human form to quickly and easily learn the fundamentals of drawing and illusion. Beginning Potter's Wheel

This intensive course will focus on learning to center on the wheel as the basis for forming round objects such as bowls and cups. Studio use included.
Each session meets four times. Students are requested to attend attend each meeting of one session. Registration for all SAA classes begins Monday, December 17.

Develop fresh ways of seeing, using your hands, arms, and whole body to make creative marks on paper. Dry materials, wet materials-brushes, charcoal, chalk, sticks-cubes and spheres. Intro to Photography in the Digital Domain

In this course, students will get hands-on experience with using a digital camera and scanner, retouching and modifying images, and producing finished prints suitable for display. We will also focus on the fundamentals of making a good photograph, whether digital or analog. Equipment will be provided, but students are urged to use their own digital cameras. Majolica Decoration

Explore color and design with Majolica, a style of decoration imitating Chinese porcelain. The technique is to glaze earthenware/terracotta with an opaque white glaze, then "paint" colorful decorations on it. Students mix glazes and colorants. With no lens, a pinhole camera is one of the most primitive tools for taking pictures. Pinhole images allow us to see as the eye and lens cannot. We will learn pinhole theory and practice, build our own cameras, take pictures, and share our results. Students should have basic photography experience. Portrait Lighting - Two Day Seminar

Explore lighting techniques within a controlled studio environment. First class: lecture/demonstration, followed by directed shooting with a model. Students bring results from first class for discussion and critique. Students should bring two rolls of Tri-X pan film, camera, and tripod to first class. There is an additional fee for the model ($5-10 per student, depending upon enrollment), and this must be brought to first class. Open to all levels.
