The labor market has changed dramatically. The old idea of a long-term career with one employer is gone. Conflicts between work and family are increasing. The skills we need have changed. Insecurity is higher. Mechanisms to give employees voice in their workplaces have eroded. Yet our policies-public and private-have not kept pace with these changes. This session will examine how the American job market has changed and how government, business, community groups, and organized labor should respond. The starting point for the discussion will be the new book, "Working In America: A Blueprint For A New Labor Market."
