Is Religion an Ideology? A Scientific Analysis

Ideologies, both religious and secular, share the common feature that certain ideas or beliefs are held to be more important than human beings, or the quality of their lives and relationships. Genuine religion, in this presenter's view, exists to serve human beings (not the other way around), and holds that establishing authentic human relations based on love and altruism constitutes the highest human value. He presents a scientific analysis of the dynamical process by which religions have historically been transformed into ideologies.
