Web services is the technology that finally allows applications to communicate with each other, despite location, platform, and implementation. We'll introduce Web services and discuss general architecture and protocols: SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, plus the IBM products that implement some of them. We'll use WebSphere Studio and build some Web services. We'll look at Web services security and some of the new emerging standards.
