Technical Presentation Workshop for Graduate Students
Nhut Tan Ho
Tue Jan 21, Thu Jan 23, 06pm-08:00am, Location TBA

Participants requested to attend all sessions (non-series)

Have your technical presentations sometimes "bombed?" Somehow the organization of your talk didn't flow logically, or the style you present didn't captivate the audience. Maybe your picture/table/text was not what it should be, or your Q&A session was embarrassing. Perhaps your voice was not clear, or maybe you were just too nervous. These are common problems graduate students face when giving technical presentations. The good news is that the MIT Toastmasters Club is sponsoring a two-day workshop to help you conquer these problems. The first day will cover the importance and fundamentals of giving a good presentation, followed by video samples and critiques of professional presentations given at seminars. On the second day, you will be given an opportunity to do a prepared, 5-minute presentation of your research. Each presentation will be evaluated constructively by a professional. No pre-registration is required, but in the event we have more than 8 students who want their presentation evaluated, a lottery will be used.
