This course provides students with initial exposure to the basic techniques of architectural representation via sketching, orthographic, paraline drawing, constructed perspective, collage and model making. Using new media and applied techniques, students will use both intuition combined with the act of making for inquiring about and communicating design intentions. Priority will be given to Course 4 undergraduates.

Supplementary work on individual or group basis. Registration subject to prior arrangement for subject matter and supervision by staff.
Create exhibition of the work of dECOi Architects at MIT's Wolk Gallery; present past and current projects, including work done at MIT for the Miran Galerie, The Bankside Paramorph and the St. Andrews Voronoi. Will use drawings/models from Pompidou 'Non Standard Architecture' exhibition and the Venice Biennale 'Morphogenesis.' 15 projects will highlight emergent principles of digital design and articulate them through rendering, models and text. Opportunity is open to students wanting to gain experience in exhibition design, rendering, modeling, installation & construction.

Supplementary work on individual or group basis. Registration subject to prior arrangement for subject matter and supervision by staff.
Workshop with Bentley Systems (Microstation software) to introduce new parametric extension Generative Components. Explores the potential of working parametrically using a beta-version software. Will center on two design-related projects using 3-D printing facilities to produce tangible objects. Goal is to move beyond simple software appropriation to developing a design aptitude in light of parametric potential.
