Whether enabled by mechanically-driven gears or the most advanced image capture technology, kinetic art forms speak to the space-time dimensions of human experience. This two-part session provides a historic framework for visualization and interpretation of body motion, and introduces novel video-based concepts for motion capture. Invited artists will share their unique perspectives on the role of body movement in kinetically-inspired art. Participants will prepare individual works and conceptual models for public presentation and critique during the end of session two.

Architecture is a bodily activity. As we participate in the built environment, sight, hearing, kinesthesia, balance and movement all come into play. Sight, however, is primary, linking the mind of the viewer with the exterior world through the information-rich medium of light.
This two-day workshop will attune the senses to light's nuanced behavior. The development of acuity for light will expand our awareness of the physical and psychological subtleties of the built environment. Sensory intelligence will bridge insight and exterior form, integrating artistic process and architectural practice.
