In this studio course, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of woodcut and linocut relief printmaking. Relief Printmaking is a traditional method of printmaking in which wood or linoleum plates are cut away leaving a raised surface that is then printed onto paper. Students will work on their plates in and outside of class and print together in the studio. Interested students will be able to explore using routers and other power tools to manipulate the materials. Students are required to purchase tools and supplies for this course. Registration begins Dec. 1. Go to web.mit.edu/saa to download the registration form.
