Single session event
Come learn about Chulent, the Jewish answer to Chili. Chulent is a hot stew prepared for Shabbat by having the cooking mostly done before Shabbat and having the pot sit on a warm stove overnight. The event will consist of two components. First, ten groups of students, faculty and/or staff will work in the morning to select their ingredients and assemble their cholents. Second, after 10 hours (time to allow the stews to cook), the cooks and the whole community will be invited to taste-test all of the cholents. The blind taste-testing will determine the best cholent, and the winning cook(s) will receive a prize. If you’re interested in cooking please contact the person below.
