the norm for most people. These seminars will explore the difficulties
faced when navigating the take-out menu at fast food restaurants. Calorie
estimations of various foods will be provided along with sensible
substitutions. Learn some healthy dining strategies as well as the best and
worst that restaurants have to offer.

Join Health Educator Julie Banda and chefs from house dining to learn how to make cheap, easy, healthy food. Make fun recipes that can last the week or be taken to class on the go. We will also highlight the best healthy and cheap options on campus.

We will discuss the components of healthy eating, strategies for eating healthy on campus and spend most of our time cooking and exploring some practical recipes. Each student will receive a copy of The Healthy College Cookbook (written for students by students)

Students will leave with the food we create and be given ingredients to create a recipe on their own from the cook book to bring in to share for the second session. Cosponsored by House Dining.

This American Heart Association course teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and the use of an AED. Students also learn about using barrier devices in CPR and giving first aid for choking. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of four major emergencies -- heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, and foreign-body airway obstruction. Intended for non-health care providers.

The American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR Course for children and infants is a modular course that teaches lay rescuers how to prevent, recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for the child and infant victim. Students also learn to recognize breathing difficulties in children and infants (1 to 8 years old).
