Walking through the hallways here at MIT, you are confronted by hundreds of posters, promoting a multitude of events and opportunites. What you choose to look at and perhaps act on depends, in large part, on how well the message came across. A well-designed poster can capture your audience and is effective in its intent.
In this class we will learn how basic elements such as font choice, type size, artwork, color, and copy contribute to a poster that either sings or doesn't. We will take a visual tour of posters from earlier times to the present, as well as design a few samples, based on what we learn in class.
