MIT is a haven for people who like to turn ideas into reality, but facilities are scattered. Imagine if there was a zone in which stuff could be created so ideas, tools, and methods could be shared. The Do IT Zone would exist in the combined basement (with natural light from the sides!) of the student center and a new building between the student center and Mass Ave. The upper floors could contain an MIT visitor center, a theatre, café, student group offices. The Do IT Zone must evolve from student needs. Teams are invited to self form and create their vision for the Do IT Zone. Teams can work on the layout of just one single work cell, such as the ideal painting room, the layout of an entire 2500 m^2 basement work zone area, or the design of the entire building.
