Books highly critical of all religions have recently put some prominent atheists on the best-sellers lists. This relaxed tea-time conversation, hosted by theists, will discuss the extent to which the atheist critics have strong arguments to support their view of religion as an accidental product of natural development, and their view that religion's influence on society is mostly pernicious. Theists, atheists, and agnostics are welcomed.

Tea will be served.

The Center for Advanced Nuclear Energy Systems Studies (CANES) in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE) is sponsoring a half-day seminar on the basic elements of organizing an independent economic venture based upon knowledge gained in the course of studying nuclear energy technology at the Institute. The purpose of the seminar is to acquaint students with the procedures for organizing market ventures, protecting intellectual properties, defining the market needs, and steps for obtaining capital to start a venture. It is planned to have experts from within MIT as well as practitioners from outside organizations who have knowledge and experience in bringing nuclear energy technology into the market.
