In this four-week course, participants will learn stress and anxiety reduction techniques including breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, and mindful eating. Some of the benefits of practicing mindfulness and relaxation techniques include: increased focus and concentration, the cultivations of positive mental states, increased compassion, and greater enjoyment in life.

From a wellness point of view, traditional kung fu training helps a person develop a strong body, a clear mind and a calm spirit.

Learn about the five key elements found in every kung fu movement: hand formation, eye play, body posture, technique and stance work. Individually, these elements help focus a person's attention to the quality and details of body movement. Collectively, they enhance a person's coordination and balance. Characteristics of kung fu movements - hard v. soft, long v. short, offense v. defense will be presented as well. Loose pants and athletic shoes recommended.

Unlike exercises that are done to "burn" energy, tai chi is practiced to cultivate energy. Tai chi places an emphasis on learning to move with less mental and physical tension and practiced over time, it can increase your overall awareness and connection to the natural flow of energy in your body. Try this class and experience the relaxing and rejuvenating effects of basic tai chi training and qi gong exercises. Loose pants and athletic shoes recommended.
