Opportunity for advanced study of musical topics not covered by the regular subject listings. Students seeking an individual program of study with a particular faculty member must also obtain the approval of the section head.
Intensive chamber music workshop, focusing on music of composer Bryce Dessner, culminating in a performance with the composer on Thursday, January 29, 8 pm at the Broad Institute Auditorium. Dessner is lead guitarist and composer for The National, combining an indy rock, post-minimalist sensibility with training as a classical guitarist and composer. Practicum will focus on recent chamber works and works toward Dessner's residency and performance. Two 90 minute rehearsals per week are scheduled based on participant's availability. Required workshops on 01/28 in Killian Hall at 10:30-12:30 and 3:30-5:30.

Provides directed practice in acting or directing on a sustained theater piece, either one-act or full length, from pre-rehearsal preparation to workshop production. Consult Theater Arts Office.
Includes directed practice in stagecraft. Dramashop rehearses a production of Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" under the direction of Michael Ouellette for presentation on Feb. 5, 6, and 7, possibly the following week. Auditions on December 3, 4, and 5, 7pm, location TBA. Students receive up to six credits for technical positions and must be available for dress rehearsals and all performances.

Provides opportunity to study theater design and technical production subjects including technical theater practica or experimental subjects offered by the permanent or visiting faculty.
Units to be arranged. Students can receive up to six credits for technical design and execution for production of "Julius Caesar". Schedule to be arranged, but technicians should be available to work for dress rehearsals and performances on the first week and possibly the second week of February. Interviews for technical staff on Dec. 5, 6, and 7 at 6pm, location TBA. Actual rehearsal times will depend on the availability of the cast.
