Davis Projects for Peace is offering a $10,000 fellowship for an MIT undergraduate student project that promotes peace, to be implemented in the summer of 2010, anywhere in the world. The aim is to "help young people launch some immediate initiatives that could bring new thinking to the prospects for peace in the world." MIT will select several compelling proposals to send forward, and at least one is guaranteed to be funded! Think creatively, innovatively, and entrepreneurially -- this is a chance to formulate and test ideas for peace. The deadline to apply is 9:00am on Friday, February 5.
Get help developing your ideas, identifying community partners, and crafting your proposal at these consulting sessions.

During this two-hour workshop, taught by veteran technology innovator and entrepreneur Catherine Merrill, we will walk through the basics of a business plan, exploring how each part of a business plan can convey the power of your idea. This workshop will help IDEAS teams, and anyone starting a new project, to use the traditional business plan as a tool to induce others to invest resources in their innovation.

Events are essential to most organizations--they are used to raise money, celebrate your mission or purpose, recognize accomplishments, and provide a forum for idea exchange and as a vehicle for education. With such a variety of purposes, understanding the how-to of successful event planning is an essential tool. Learn how to run planning meetings, develop a budget, seek donations, manage volunteers, produce task lists, assemble needed materials, seek publicity, work with vendors, and anticipate human behavior. Information on planning events on MIT’s campus will be highlighted. Open to MIT students, faculty and staff.
