Biology, Belly Dancing and Beyond: Performance and Interactive Discussion
Melina Pavlata Daughters of Rhea
Melina of Daughters of Rhea (Melinda Pavlata, Ph.D.) is a second-generation belly dance artist, circus owner and aerialist, choreographer, teacher, writer, poet, mother, and -- in her former Ivory Tower life -- a scholar of Medieval French literature.

Melina will provide a history of belly dancing, followed by a performance and a interactive question answer session.

The Healing Effects of African Drums: Performance and Interactive Discussion
Joh
Sidi Mohamed Camara, popularly known as “Joh,” started traditional dance and drumming at the age of five. He mastered the art of music and dance from his mother. Joh will provide a history of african drums, followed by a performance and a interactive question answer session.

Traditional Chinese Instrumental Performances (BUSH ROOM)
Zhentian Zhang Group and The Traditional Chinese Music Ensemble of the Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts
UPDATE: This IAP event now includes TWO performances. The first performance will be the eminent Zhentian Zhang and his group on the Dulcimer. The second performance will be by the world-renowned Traditional Chinese Music Ensemble including the ehru, bamboo flutes, zhonghu and jinhu. The audience will have a unique opportunity to experience a range traditional Chinese instruments.

The Yoga and Spirit of Indian Dance: Performance and Interactive Discussion
Mouli Pal and Cristina Pujol
Mouli Pal, our performer is a dedicated Odissi dancer who started her training in Indian classical dance . Mouli learned from the legendary Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, She considers dance a reflection of the inner spiritual spirit. A scholar will begin by providing a history of Odissi followed by Mouli’s performance and an interactive question answer session.
